Founded in 1996, Hand in Paw (ALABAMA) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve human health and well-being through Animal-Assisted Therapy.
Hand in Paw’s programs address some of the greatest challenges facing north central Alabama, working to combat illiteracy, teach compassion, prevent bullying and family and community violence, and improve the lives of people with chronic illnesses and special needs. A corps of more than 175 specially-trained volunteers and their therapy animals deliver 105,000 therapeutic interventions annually. Hand in Paw’s work is 100% collaborative: all services are delivered free of charge in 100 medical centers, schools, and human service agencies.
