Since Tony formally began his foundation in the summer 2003, more than $6.5 million has been awarded to outstanding charities in 41 of the 50 United States. The Tony Stewart Foundation proudly stands behind its motto – “Accelerating Change”.
The Foundation was created as a result of Tony’s repeated calls to “Mama Smoke” to make a donation to one organization or another. Tony would see a news story or someone would tell him about an animal or a child in need. Then went the call “home” to make a difference – to take action.
Fiscal responsibility joined the soft-hearted nature of this driver known as “Smoke” so the Tony Stewart Foundation was established to provide financial grants to organizations serving children who are medically fragile – critical illness or physical disabilities as well as for animals at-risk or endangered. And, because Tony understands the risks of racing, he added a third component to provide financial assistance to drivers injured in the sport of motor racing.
Tony’s foundation receives stories, photographs and expressions of appreciation from the many organizations receiving a TSF grant. The repeated message is that this monetary award goes beyond paying expenses. Receiving a Tony Stewart Foundation Grant serves as an endorsement of the amazing work being done each day by the staff and volunteers to enhance and improve the lives of children and animals. Our “Charity Partners” report an uptick in donations, volunteerism and media coverage when Tony’s name becomes associated with the organization. “Accelerating Change” goes beyond the powerful dollar – it’s measured in the compassion of those who serve these special children and their families and provide a positive outcome for animals at-risk. The Tony Stewart Foundation is proud to play a small but important role in the process.
