Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) (COLORADO) is dedicated to saving the disadvantaged horse…One human, one rescue, one home at a time.

CHR has been contributing to our community for 29 years. Our mission is to save the disadvantaged horse and to do so in a way that helps people as well. For every horse there is a human attached. Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) is often a horse’s and horse owner’s last chance. When horse owners are faced with illness, foreclosure, divorce, or any other unfortunate family crisis including natural disasters, CHR is there to provide assistance and to give those beloved horses a second chance at finding a loving home. The former owner has peace of mind and the new owners’ lives have been enriched.

As part of our commitment to the community we are dedicated to equine education and training. CHR hosts clinics, seminars, lessons and lectures throughout the year to educate the public on responsible horse ownership. Boomer, our miniature horse and ambassador goes out to schools, libraries and fairs to raise awareness about the Rescue and teach people about the issues related to the disadvantaged horse. We have professional trainers and a group of hand-picked volunteers who work with our horses on a daily basis to help prepare them for adoption.

CHR offers Equine Crisis Assistance. Some horse owners are suffering from temporary financial hardship due to the loss of a job, sudden illness or other life altering circumstance. CHR helps qualified individuals by providing a couple months’ worth of board, feed or veterinary bills to get them back on their feet. These owners have the chance of keeping their beloved family members with them.

Funding of Colorado Horse Rescue plays an important role in ensuring that we are able to continue our mission. Horses are a symbol of beauty, grace, strength and loyalty and should be honored with a second chance.
