Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin / San Antonio (CSRA) is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cocker spaniels in central Texas (and sometimes beyond). Those rescued orphans are fostered in loving homes of volunteers who work very proactively training, teaching home life skills, rehabilitating and advocating for the dogs’ health needs to prepare them for their next life.
We do not discriminate as to the type of Cockers we take into rescue and include cocker mixes as well as those with medical and behavior issues that we feel are in need. CSRA takes healthy, sick, young and old Cocker Spaniels as long as we have an open foster home. The majority of our dogs come from animal shelters, animal control facilities, puppy mills, owner surrenders and good Samaritans.
In addition, we strive to create educational opportunities when interacting with the public by introducing the benefits of spaying/neutering, training and supporting local shelters and rescues. We are known for our continuing efforts even after adoption to our families and dogs. Our goal is to make sure that the next home is forever.
How the Money Will Be Used
In 2016, the Tony’s Crew Award was for $2,500.
In 2015, the Tony’s Crew Award of $3,000 will go towards “Wigglebutt University”. Dogs enrolled in this program are considered special adoptions and trainers provide an individualized behavior intervention program for each one. Graduation from Wigglebutt University insures a smooth transition into a dog’s forever home.
