Arts for Life

Arts For Life (NORTH CAROLINA) is dedicated to supporting people facing serious illnesses and disabilities. By providing educational art programs, we enrich patients’ lives, nurture their minds and spirits, and encourage positive healthcare experiences for children and their families. Arts For Life helps children and their families in four communities across North Carolina. Arts For Life began in 2001 with one patient, one camera, and one art lesson. Our founder's sister was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, at age 11. While Katie was in treatment for weeks and months at a time, her sister Anna found that dynamic, educational art lessons helped young patients cope with the short and long-term effects of illness, remain [...]

Central Illinois Greyhound Adoption

Begun in 2001, Central Illinois Greyhound Adoption (ILLINOIS) serves to take injured greyhounds from the tracks throughout the country and provide the necessary medical/surgical treatment. Once the greyhounds have convalesced, they are spayed/neutered, evaluated for temperament, placed in foster care and then adopted to a great home. CIGA is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations, grants and sales, plus the volunteers who give up their time, energy and resources for the greyhounds. Volunteers receive no compensation for their work other than the true joy of seeing greyhounds united with their loving families. CIGA is not a first-time TSF Grant recipient. In 2010, the organization received $5,000 and their stewardship of the donation was impeccable. The [...]

In many cases, reconstructive surgeons can correct these problems early—often while the child is still an infant. However, many children must undergo dozens of surgeries and procedures throughout their life and face isolation and teasing from their peers. Throughout childhood and into adulthood, CCA helps families navigate, prepare for, and [...]
