In January 2017, Prison Greyhounds brought 11 retired racing greyhounds from Daytona Beach up to Indianapolis for adoption. The cost to safely transport these ex-racers was funded through a Tony Stewart Foundation Grant. Four of the greyhounds have been placed in Putnamville Correctional Facility, Greencastle, Indiana. Their inmate-handlers will spend 2 months teaching them basic house manners prior to adoption. Like any retired greyhound racer, they just need someone to transition them from a racing professional to a family pet.The other seven greyhounds went either directly to pre-approved adopters or have landed softly with a foster family. Of these eleven greyhounds, four retired with racing injuries known as “repaired fractures” meaning they were fully healed when we took them into our [...]

He’s NASCAR’s everyman, whose collar is as blue as his Kansas City Royals hat and his smile as wide as a wheat field. He’s been quiet the last two seasons, but that only proves how much of a team sport NASCAR is these days. Midway through [...]

TULSA, Okla. -- Tony Stewart opted for a vehicle that he could rev up to a whopping 2 mph during the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals race week. Rarely does Stewart have to go slow to earn a paycheck. But there he was working into the wee hours of the morning, plodding along tilling the surface to prepare the track throughout the week. He didn't race because he got the call from the race organizer Emmett Hahn that Hahn needed Stewart's track-prep acumen, a job Stewart has performed the past four years at the Tulsa River Spirit Expo Center. As he toiled away at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, well after all the races had ended Friday night, [...]
