A New Race. A New Life.

In January 2017, Prison Greyhounds brought 11 retired racing greyhounds from Daytona Beach up to Indianapolis for adoption. The cost to safely transport these ex-racers was funded through a Tony Stewart Foundation Grant. Four of the greyhounds have been placed in Putnamville Correctional Facility, Greencastle, Indiana. Their inmate-handlers will spend 2 months teaching them basic house manners prior to adoption. Like any retired greyhound racer, they just need someone to transition them from a racing professional to a family pet.The other seven greyhounds went either directly to pre-approved adopters or have landed softly with a foster family.
